![]() What Should I Expect When I Visit? We know it is not easy visiting a new church for the first time. Sometimes you feel like a nonmember visiting a country club. Do I belong here? Am I really welcome? Will the people be unfriendly, or too friendly? Will I be conspicuous? Will it be easy to leave if I don't enjoy it? Will they ask me for money? Will my kids enjoy it? How should I dress? Am I welcome if I don«t believe? At Joy Reigns Church we want to make your visit an enjoyable experience, easy, stress-free, relaxing. We designed Joy Reigns to be "user-friendly" for people, whatever their background, including those who have never been to church before. In fact, many of our people were not regular church attenders before starting at JRC. So you are in a majority when you visit! Here is a brief overview of what you can expect when you visit. As you come through the front door, there should be some friendly people (we call them "greeters") to say hello, answer any questions you have, and direct you to where we gather for worship. If you come for Sunday School (9:15AM during the school year) you will see clear signs pointing you in the right direction to find the right class. We have developed a good check-in/out system so you will know your kids are safe and well cared for. You'll notice that everyone is dressed comfortably, in anything from "office casual" to jeans and sneakers. If you arrive early, you«re welcome to have a cup of coffee (self-serve near the entrance) and pick up information in the lobby area. When you come in the auditorium, you will be given a copy of the church bulletin and "The Weekly" which has the week«s announcements and an agenda for the worship service. During the service we pass around a clipboard where you can share your name and email address so that we can be in contact with you about how we might help you connect with the life and ministry of Joy Reigns Church. We will not flood you with emails or annoy you with lots of phone calls, but we would like to have the chance to get to know you. The service usually begins with some upbeat music led by our praise team (an excellent band of vocals, guitars, bass, drums...). Our service follows a similar order each week that includes prayers, scripture, a time of confession, and Holy Communion. We do our best to make the messages interesting, enjoyable, and relevant to daily life. Hopefully, you will laugh at times and maybe feel a tug at your heart too. Holy
Communion (also known as the Eucharist or the
Lords
Supper) is an important part of each of our worship gathering. All
baptized Christians are welcome to share in Holy Communion with us.
The service usually last a little more than an hour
(and
believe it or not, the time will fly). Please make sure to introduce
yourself to the pastor at some point before you leave.
One thing you may notice is that we don't pass an offering
basket. We
want you to feel welcome as our guest, with no pressure to give. Our
regular attenders will put their contributions in the offering basket
as they come up for Communion.
People constantly tell us that they really felt
comfortable -
"at home" are the words we hear most frequently. We hope you will stop
by this Sunday!
Thanks for your interest!
